August 14, 2008 (Day 201)

Lackadaisical: lacking spirit or liveliness

Time for my cliché "sad girl by the rainy window" shot. :)

I love this word, even though rainy days do not make me feel this way. I always get a bit excited when the light in my room suddenly grows dark because a storm cloud has pushed its way in front of the sun. And instead of counting the seconds between thunder rolling and lighting flashing, I count how many roof-shuddering booms it takes before Sketch bolts upstairs like he has a demon on his tail to wriggle his way beneath the tight space under my sleepr sofa in the office.

He puts on a brave face and bullies Britta most of the time, but he's just a little scaredy cat when it comes to thunderstorms. I find this hopelessly cute, especially when he recovers enough to come back downstairs and hop in my lap for some comfort.
