Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

October 1, 2008 (Day 249) Slugabed: one who stays in bed until a late hour How I wish I could spend this week with the covers pulled over my head. Work is simply horrendous right now. Anybody want to hire an editor?"Wake Me Some Other Day" is what I titled this in my head and aptly fits my current mood. Blargh.
September 28, 2008 (Day 246) Panache: dash or flamboyance in manner or style An excerpt from my shoot today for DSS9. How I wish I could actually process my entry. This matches my vision for the concept more closely: that of the goddess Aurora right before she wakens. I have another set of eyelashes for Hespera, the Goddess of Dusk, for the counterpart to this, but it took me five hours just to get one shot I could enter SOOC. One of those spent just trying to get the cursed eyelashes on.Fake eyelashes make wonderful photo props. But OMG, they are a $%@!*& pain in the %$!# to glue on. I was so blasted annoyed by the time I finished applying these for Aurora, I just didn't want to go through the headache all over again for Hespera. Another day, perhaps. To cheer myself up, I ordered a Holga and some film for the upcoming Moab trip. Want to try something just fun and different while out capturing breath-taking landscapes. I can't wait to have it in my eager little hands. Plastic fantastic, baby!
September 27, 2008 (Day 245) Capitulate: to surrender under agreed conditions Isn't that what love actually is?Older photo because things are a bit of a blur right now. Need to work a bit tomorrow as I "wasted" most of today. That included a very lovely lunch with the amazing Schmoo and Travis, and we got to meet David (RogersDA) along with his wife and daughter. The weather was horrible—sheeting rain by the time we were ready to go to our cars, of course—but the lunch was faboo as always. Sunflower, and the company, never disappoints.I finally managed to undo the screws hiding my RAM in my other laptop and was able to install the extra 1GB of memory I'd had for the past week. Apple put some serious might into locking those teensy screws. I still have marks in my palm from the end of my screwdriver because I had to push down so hard. Backed up files with Time Machine and transferred more stuff over to the external HD as well. Trying to free up space for all the Moab pictures the lappy will need to hold after next week!Note that I don't look like this in reality (yet). This shot has had heavy PP done, including major liposuction. ;)
