Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

September 22, 2008 (Day 240) Undulate: to move in waves What's this? An update? No, you're not hallucinating.Things at work exploded into a a super-not-fun-unhappy mess, and there's no real sign of it improving for at least another month. I am burnt out. My project here fell to the wayside as a result, and I hate that. Not just this project, but my photography in general. Before this past weekend, it had been three weeks since I touched a camera. I was simply too exhausted and brain-dead, and suddenly picking up my camera felt like more work, which is a horrible feeling.Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the shootout in Moab in two weeks. I need to get away. And I need to fall back in love with photography. It keeps me alive and sparkly.
August 27, 2008 (Day 214) Naif: a naive or inexperienced person Five days?? I was gone five days? Ack! Sorry, folks. I had my head down in processing for DSS, then pouting, then researching (lots of friggin' researching) for the next challenge idea. I had no idea so many days had gone by without me posting! So, yes, you get another boxer shot. But, to make it up to you, I put together a tutorial on my processing for this series. Creating the tutorial took longer than processing five images together. I'm beat!
August 22, 2008 (Day 209) Hobson's choice: a choice without an alternative Origin (from Dictionary.com): The origin of the term Hobson's choice is said to be in the name of one Thomas Hobson (ca. 1544-1631), at Cambridge, England, who kept a livery stable and required every customer to take either the horse nearest the stable door or none at all.I wish I were faced with Hobson's choice right now. Above is a work-up of my second DSS idea. That fire is kicking my butt. I've been messing with this on and off all day. Rawr.So it's either this, or just stick with my other entry, which, frankly, looks more "done" to me. Meh. Time for sleep. Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone! I tried another tactic with for the fire and have been tweaking all day. I think the fire's improved, but it ain't perfect yet.
