Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

Feb. 23, 2008 (Day 28) Nettlesome: causing irritation, vexation, or distress Packing for a business trip next week, and this happens every time. I'm not sure who's vexed more: the cats who do anything in their power to prevent me from packing (as they have learned what this bag means) or me, who is racked with guilt from their cute, albeit frustrating, endeavors.Hard to leave them behind, but they are super cuddly when I get home. :) And this means a week of likely quick snaps and no processing--eek! I leave Monday for a conference in Florida. We'll see how it goes.
Feb. 22, 2008 (Day 27) Dissolute: loose in morals and conduct This is a rough sketch of a concept I had planned in case I made it to the LPS grand finale (one of two I had made plans to shoot, just in case). Though I didn't make it to the GF, I still like the idea of this image. It was fun to try it out for today's word. The full concept would include other details and a human element. Maybe it'll come to fruition in the future. If you're unable to read the stitching on the jeans, it says, "The Flirt," which would be the title for the complete piece. They're Old Navy jeans, and I love them. So flattering and comfy!Disclaimer: I am not dissolute. I am a perfect angel. Hi mom and dad, who I recently learned discovered this project!
Feb. 21, 2008 (Day 26) Relegate: to assign or remove, usually to an inferior position Is it too much of a stretch to say celestial mechanics relegated the moon to this position, especially considering the main role it played in last night's events? Nah... :)This was another case of waking up and looking out my window to blearily think, "Oooh, pretty!" Then trying to kick my brain into gear to go fetch the camera before the view was gone. Very nice at 7am to see. Not so nice at 3am when it's obnoxiously bright and shining right on your face.
