Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

Apr. 9, 2008 (Day 74) Afflatus: a divine inspiration OK, Muse. Ha ha. Very funny. When I asked for some divine inspiration, this really wasn't what I had in mind.Muse: 1Artist: 0So here I am, waiting for a more legitimate afflatus from you. Give in already!
Apr. 8, 2008 (Day 73) Voluble: characterized by a ready flow of speech This is a poem that stuck with me ever since I first read it in college, mainly for the very last stanza. I love other little pieces as well as the whole, but those last three lines really struck a chord with me and made me feel empowered. This is Sylvia Plath's "Lady Lazarus."Incredibly vivid, and disturbing, imagery. I have to say "sticky pearls" is the one that makes me shudder most.
Apr. 7, 2008 (Day 72) Woebegone: woeful; also, run-down My poor shutters. Property management will be fixing and repainting them soon, but right now they just look so sad.On another note, I've spoiled myself with good glass. The 50mm f/1.4 made me realize how crappy my wide-angle glass was. The recent purchase of my Nikkor 12-24mm has made me begin to loathe my Tammy 70-300mm. I use it for fake close-up work, since I don't have a macro lens, and it just isn't sharp. Argh! I hate it now.A new superzoom was not in my near-future purchase plans, but it may be now. I'm just so hating my Tammy after using my pretty Nikkor glass for so long.
