Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

August 21, 2008 (Day 208) Juju: an object superstitiously believed to embody magical powers You mess with her, bad juju indeed. ;)A sneak peek from the photoshoot we finally managed to pull together today. This is a test image for processing and to see if my second DSS idea could work. I'm thinking it will, which makes me super happy.Special thanks to my friend who let me put all sorts of crap on her and put up with my posing directions for hours. Nothing like taking a beautiful girl and making her look dirty and mean. ^_^
August 19, 2008 (Day 206) Aestival: of or belonging to the summer Had some leftover heartsicles in the freezer. Seemed a shame to waste them. Except I was too lazy to walk around the other side of building where the sun was actually shining.Photoshoot delayed. ::pout::
August 18, 2008 (Day 205) Knell: the stroke of a bell tolled at a funeral I don't own a bell, and my creative energy is focused so much on lighting right now I couldn't spare brain power figuring out how to photograph sound. So you get some somber processing of my ear with earrings I'd likely wear to a funeral (which I hope I don't have to do for many, many years).I have been reading Strobist all day, and my head is spinning. I successfully bribed my friend for the photoshoot (DSS idea #2), and the lighting is what will make the shot. I bought my flash this weekend. Yeah, we'll see how a total newb does with a multi-light set-up. I'm nervous and excited all at once.
