Word of the Day

I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, maybe new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's Last Photographer Standing contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!

Mar. 17, 2008 (Day 51) Indolent: lazy; inactive More fun with window light! While it would have been nice to spend the day like this, I just couldn't--not on St. Patrick's Day! I walked to the store to pick up a couple things I was missing to make Irish soda bread then came home, fired up the oven and some awesome Irish tunes, and got to baking. I enjoyed a little Bailey's and my last can of Bulmers cider (gonna have to restock during my one day in Dublin this summer!). And I'm still tappin' my toes to fiddles and pipes. The day could only be improved if I'd managed to find a copy of Darby O'Gill and the Little People to watch. Man, I love that movie.I love this day! Happy "Everybody's Irish" Day to all! Sláinte!
Mar. 16, 2008 (Day 50) Chagrin: acute vexation or embarrassment I've earned a reputation among my friends of being a good cook, and I kind'a pride myself on this skill. This idea occurred to me because I was going to attempt carmelizing onions for the second time tonight. This pretty much illustrates my success the first time I attempted it, which, for a person who likes to brag she's a good cook, was very vexing indeed. Thankfully, I got it right this time around. :)
Mar. 15, 2008 (Day 49) Sojourn: to dwell for a time; also, a temporary stay Something a little different. I had a whole "ruby slippers" concept planned and had to wait for nightfall to attempt it (feels like waiting forever now--8pm?? Argh!). Unfortunately, a recently fixed light outside my home thwarted my original composition and plan. (Really, good job, management. Happy you got it fixed so quickly. But you messed up my picture!)This ended up nothing like my original idea. It became its own little beast. It frustrated me for a bit. Then I decided to roll with it.Light painting on my front porch. A neighborhood cat wandered up to me to check out what I was doing. The neighbors stayed far, far away. ;)
